A change in view

I met this fine couple while wandering around Fairport lookin' for a place to set up camp. Got to chatting, and they invited me and my dog onboard for a ride on up to Pittsford. Woo!

It was Anna's first ever boat ride! And she hopped on board no problemo.

Well, that's a lie. I had to get on before she would, but as soon as I was on the boat she hopped right on. This is how she spent the whole ride:

I've already forgotten the gentleman's name, but the woman is Angela. (If you're reading this, sorry! I usually write these things down!) Turns out she works at Career Services at Syracuse University. I promised to keep in touch and keep them updated on my wanderings, and she said if I ever needed any help finding a job to give her a call.

I am meeting the awesomest of people on this journey.

So now I'm in a hotel on the west side of Rochester. (OMG I'm so happy to be clean and not smelly. Showers = AWESOME) Tomorrow I plan to be in Spencerport, and Brockport the day after that.

I'm over two weeks ahead of schedule, because of the generosity and kindness of the people I've met along the way. The original plan was to get to Brockport and then figure out if I had enough funds and energy to continue across the country. But you know what? Buffalo and the end of the Erie Canal is a mere 74 miles away, and I'm thinkin' that I just might go all the way.

So the new plan, that I'm still toying with, is to get to Brockport and spend a couple days with Melissa and Tom. Then I'll set off and continue to the end of the Erie Canal trail. Then I'll head back to Melissa and figure out a way to get down to the Discovery Trail and keep on goin'.

Unless I run out of money. Then who knows what'll happen.

Meanwhile, here are some pictures from the past week:

Along the Canal....somewhere.

Sunset along the canal, at Lock 30.

Anna, posing nicely, if not enthusiastically, for me.

I love that sunset photo.
What a nice way to end that day, with a cruise down the canal!
